Kids Dance Program Details and Policies

Star Dance Centre is committed to providing performing arts programming to cultivate the next generation of stars and to help enrich kids’ lives through dance and self-expression.

We provide professional dance education to kids in a safe and welcoming environment.                             

Our Star instructors take pride in being not only teachers but also mentors to students. They guide students in learning dance technique and artistry, but also in finding the joy of dance and learning valuable life skills. All our faculty members are actively involved in the dance community as performers, choreographers, competitors, judges and ambassadors of dance.


2021/2022 Season Details

Our season runs throughout the school year from September to June, and is divided into the following 3 terms:

Term 1: Sept. 22nd – Dec. 17th, 2021

Term 2: Jan. 5th – Mar 25th, 2022

Term 3: Apr. 6th – Jun 24th,  2022

Throughout the season, kids will learn dance fundamentals, develop expression and coordination, gain self-confidence, and of course, have fun! Students will explore multiple dance styles in the program, with a focus on Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet Fundamentals. By the end of the season students will better understand each genre and may begin to recognize which ones they may wish to specialize in. 

At the end of the year students will participate in an Examination to test their skills and give them an opportunity to perform. Students will receive Certification for successfully completing one full year, which will allow them to continue to the next level in the following season.

Students will also be given the opportunity to perform their acquired skills at our annual showcases in December and June.

We recommend that students commit for the full school year as the curriculum in each term will build towards the end of the year Examination. Students may join mid-season if there is space in the program, but they will need to pass an assessment in order to be considered for Certification and Examination. The team may recommend private or semi-private classes to help the child successfully complete the season.


Ages and Times:

1. Mini Star Kids Team (4-7yrs)

– Wednesdays 4:30pm – 5:30pm

2. Star Junior Kids Team (8-12yrs)

– Fridays 5:00pm – 6:00pm


Fees and Discounts

Our dance season consists of 37 weeks of classes (September – June). Payments may be paid in installments per each term (3 terms). Payments are due before the start of each term or upon enrolment. 

Our first term consists of 13 weeks of classes followed by the second and third term consisting of 12 weeks each.

SIBLING DISCOUNT – Siblings are entitled to a 5% discount.


2021/2022 Fee Schedule:

HST and a one-time registration fee of $25/person is added to all tuition fees.

Fall/Winter term: $298 

Winter/Spring term: $279

Spring/Summer: $279

Full Year Tuition (Discounted): $780



Those who register to pay tuition via credit card, will be automatically charged at the beginning of each term. Cardholders are responsible for ensuring that their card information is up to date to avoid any late fees or penalty charges.


In the event of withdrawal from future term(s), the office must be notified in writing, TWENTY DAYS prior to the next term for a refund to be made for that term. All remaining cheques or scheduled credit card transactions will be cancelled for the remainder of the year. 

An exception will be made in the case of medical reasons (doctor’s note must be provided) or relocation.

There is no refund or credit for missed classes.

Overdue accounts and administration fees:

A $35 charge is applied to all cheques returned by the bank for any reason. Payments will be considered late if not received by the first class of each term. A 2% charge will be added on the last day of each month on all delinquent accounts. Students with an outstanding balance will not be permitted in class. 

Recitals & Costumes:

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, plans for our showcases will be confirmed as the dance season progresses. Should it be possible, we will have a winter showcase at the end of Term 1 (late-December) and then our Annual showcase will be held at the end of the season.

In the event that performances are possible, students will be given the option to participate. Those who choose to perform will require a costume for showcases. Costumes will be ordered by our studio, costume fees will be discussed with families in advance.


Important studio information is distributed and updated on a regular basis. Our main means of communication is via email. Please check for updates regularly to avoid confusion. Please ensure your email address is correct upon registration. 


Please leave any valuables at home, the studio is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.

For safety reasons please avoid jewellery and ensure that you are dressed appropriately in comfortable clothing and indoor athletic shoes to allow for proper instruction.

Parents must pick up their children immediately following their class.
